DUnet HP 5500 Color Printer Fix - Additional Details

Print Processor

Problem: The Print Processor setting for the HP Color LaserJet 5500 PS printer reverts to HPPRN03 or other incorrect processor.

Symptoms: When you print to one of the DUnet color printers, no popup is displayed and no print jobs remain in the local queue for the printer. The print job appears to simply vanish.

Solution: Reset the Print Processor to Uniprint.

Additional Information:
  • The problem may be caused by Adobe software.
  • In a controlled environment like a lab, it may be possible to add the batch file for the fix to the startup scripts via group policy. This would ensure the settings are set correctly each time the system starts up, regardless of whether or not any new updates or software have been installed.
Manual Fix:
  1. Right-click the printer and select Properties.
  2. Select the Advanced tab.
  3. Select Print Processor....
  4. Select Uniprint for the Print processor. The Default data type should be "RAW".
  5. Click the OK button.
  6. Click the OK button again.
No system restart will be necessary for this change to take effect.
